Albury – Ride Lane – ROW 507

Ride Lane runs from the green of  Farley Green in the north, to Winterfold Heath in the south, covering 2.24km (1.3 miles) of ancient lane.

The views each side of the track are limited by the banks and trees, with these seeming quite oppressive in parts.

The surface stability varies along the lane, reasonably firm surfaces making way for puddles, and uneven, rutted mud. It is not likely to be wheelchair friendly. However, there are no real obstructions blocking the lane.

Name: Ride Lane
Location: Farley Green
Parish, Borough: Albury, Guildford
ROW No.: 507 (D223)
Approx. Length: 2.2 km / 1.3 miles
North end: TQ058453

A new restriction shuts Ride Lane to “any motor vehicles or any horse drawn carriages with four or more wheels, wider than 1500mm”.

Signage and way-marking of the lane is excellent, and all is very clear regarding rules and regulations. It looks like the Surrey Hills organisation has taken responsibility for this, and many thanks to them.

I was also pleased to note that there is very little litter along the track, just a piece of mud-flap and an old traffic cone!
